Hard work, consistency and positive attitude. How did you prepare for UPSC? I prepared a schedule and followed it. I had daily, weekly and monthly targets. The exam process takes one and half years from announcement of vacancy to final result. One needs to begin preparations at least a year before appearing for the exam. I used write and read books for relaxation. What study material did you use?NCERT books for basic understanding, competition magazines of different publications, newspaper editorials and headlines. I chose Law and Gujarati Literature as my optional on the basis of my interest, background, command over syllabus and availability of material. How should one face the interview board? The interview board is cordial. Try to be open and frank. Don’t try to deceive the learned members. Give brief and clear answers. Your choice of words must be appropriate. Advice to young UPSC aspirants ... Revise what you have already read. Try to be calm in exam hall. There is a limit to the attempts you can make. So, take a drop if you are unprepared. It will not be counted as an attempt.
